Being there: quality health benefits help Children’s Friend employees give back to those they serve

DAVID CAPRIO: With UnitedHealthcare, Children's Friend has been able to move our employees’ health and our health insurance plan forward in ways that we never imagined. We're really proud to be the oldest social service agency in the state of Rhode Island with a long history of, you know, serving and supporting our kids.

JULIE COLANGELI: So, many of our employees are caregivers, and oftentimes caregivers don't take the time to care for themselves.

DAVID CAPRIO: It's all about, you know, how do we keep as many benefits as intact as possible, how do we expand wellness coverage and offerings when we can, and how do we not pass costs on to employees?

JULIE COLANGELI: Our team at UnitedHealthcare helps us find ways to manage the costs through offering programs that are gonna help the employees.

BERENICE BETANCUR: They have provided us with good health plans that cover all kinds of different things, thinking of the employee’s pocket.

JULIE COLANGELI: We haven't raised the employee benefit contributions in 17 years.

MINA INTERIANO: It's been huge. It's a huge impact on our lives. Going to work and feeling that, you know, you matter, that it's not just the job you do, but we care about how you feel.

BERENICE BETANCUR: This is a hard job and we take care of a lot of people, but we need to be taking care of ourselves.

JULIE COLANGELI: To be able to hear employees are making a difference in their lives because of the benefits and the wellness programs that we're offering, it feels really good.
